Select Board · Meeting of July 1, 2026
ASHBY — The Ashby Select Board approved more than $745,000 in warrants and five town appointments while hearing that restoring the historic Grange Hall will cost about $2.25 million. Members Jess and Paul voted aye on every roll call, approving payroll warrant W26-26P for $90,807.66, vendor warrants totaling $654,311.68, and appointments including Claire Lavin to the Historical District Commission and Eric Salmi as alternate building inspector. A presenter for the Ashby Historical Commission said architects from GNAP Architects settled on a main-floor-only renovation scope after finding the building's floor framing "would not provide an occupant load under the current building code." The commission discovered a tight-tank septic system cannot be used on the site and is raising local funds for septic testing before seeking construction grants.
The board also approved two one-day liquor licenses for the Fitchburg Rod and Gun Club and entered executive session at 7:01 p.m. to discuss a personnel matter.
