Select Board · Meeting of July 15, 2026

ASHBY — The Ashby Select Board approved a new all-alcohol liquor license and appointed a new police officer at its July 15 meeting. Members David, Jessica and Paul voted 3-0 to grant the license to applicant Sawcat Wally for a Main Street convenience store, pending final approval from the state Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission. The board also voted 3-0 to appoint Timothy Stewart, a six-year Templeton police officer, to the Ashby Police Department effective July 19, with a sergeant noting he will become the department's third Crisis Intervention Training-certified officer.

The board approved $133,972.08 in fiscal year 2026 year-end budget transfers and authorized a 10-year lease for a new fire pumper truck already funded by Town Meeting. Resident John Cronin said the Attorney General's office is "still waiting for their copies" of overdue closed-session minutes, and a board member acknowledged a transfer station cash-handling problem raised "a couple meetings ago" remains unresolved, saying "I don't think it's been resolved."
